Overview
My placement hasn't been limited to one role during my year at IBM. I started shadowing my task manager who was the UKI Public Sector Leader for IBM Consulting while working with his core team. I then worked on two complex high value bid proposals for a large Public Sector client. I then worked in delivery as PMO support on UK Critical National Infrastructure. I have also done technical work as a complete beginner, and have engaged in a variety of external roles outside of my core role.
Skills
List of skills I have developed: - Interpersonal / communication skills - Negotiating - Stakeholder management - Time management List of skills I have learned: - Technical skills: HTML, CSS and JavaScript languages (basic knowledge) - Communicating effectively with senior members of staff
Responsibilities
Yes, despite being an intern, I was regarded as a valued member of every team I have been a part of. An example of where I held a lot of responsibility is when I was in charge of submitting a multi-million pound bid proposal (loading all question answers and documents into the submission portal).
Support & Guidance
Yes, I have two managers who are more than happy to aid me whenever I need it!
Culture
Very friendly and everyone is understanding of the position I'm in as an intern, and that it may take a bit longer for me to learn processes compared to others.
Your Impressions
I believe I have made the absolute most out of my year by putting myself outside of my comfort zone and therefore have fully enjoyed my year - I would rate it 9.5/10
Yes
Be yourself - IBM really values authenticity.
