Overview
I am here to help support the various teams in IBM Security Technology, and to help promote co-operation between the different teams. I am responsible for the reporting in ISC of the various different Technical Accelerators that the Tech Sales team do. I create powerpoints for meetings and I have been advancing our Security Seller ChatBot by testing and producing new intends.
Skills
I have learned how to effectively communicate in a company with many different lines of communication that employs thousands. Working from home has allowed me to manage my own time to a great effect, without the need of being micro managed. I have developed new technical skills in cyber security like cryptography and understanding the mind of a hacker.
Responsibilities
At the start no, which was great because it allowed me to progress at my own pace. Then after 3 months I was leading projects and talking in senior meetings. I now have been running my own lunch and learn series which I host every week and am responsible for making the agenda and getting people to talk on the calls.
Support & Guidance
To be honest I was kind of just left to my own devices, and I don't recall ever being checked up on from my foundation manager. But I know that if I needed any help and guidance that they were only a slack message away.
Culture
All very positive and everyone seems happy to work at IBM. I have adopted the growth mindset myself as it means I will always be looking to learn and progress, meaning I won't ever be left behind by the fast paced ever changing technology industry.
Your Impressions
I would say I must have enjoyed it on the most part as I am staying on here as an apprentice! But I would say my work was very little in the grand scheme of the business I am really looking forward to having more responsibility and being able to actually do stuff that matters.
Yes
Be yourself! Make sure you make note of the things you do not enjoy and most importantly the thigs you do enjoy! Your manager will not be evil... if the task you don't enjoy can be done by someone else or simply isn't important then they won't make you do it!
