Overview
looking after focus list students, supporting them with their emotional, social and behavioural concerns in and out of classroom. Ran self guiding reading sessions during lunch and after school clubs as well as year 11 revision sessions. Every morning did check in/check out to ensure students wellbeing and how they are. Other roles included admin duties for example, typing up data for students i personally work with to monitor progress.
Skills
yes i have such as leadership, problem solving, and adapting to challenging situations for example, i delivered sessions on stem club, 1 to 1 independent working with my students.
Responsibilities
yes, i have been given a lot of responsibility as i managed and supported my own caseload of students to take care of and helped them to perform their best.
Support & Guidance
My IO [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] has been a tremendous help throughout my placement in city year as she helped me feel more inclusive and supported through every step of the way. however, City Year as an organisation have a mental health number but its not well known and workload for the amount of extra hours they expect is not beneficial or helpful.
Culture
I greatly enjoyed the company culture and general atmosphere as everyone has been very welcoming and friendly, making me feel included and part of the wider city year culture.
Your Impressions
i truly enjoyed my placement at City Year despite the many challenges I experienced throughout the year. The best thing about my placement was creating strong meaningful bonds with some amazing students and getting to know my team. I was fortunate to have such a lovely team and IO which made my experience fantastical.
