Overview
Supporting the Samsung UK Retail Go-To-Market Team within the Mobile Division with various in-store and pop-up executions such as retail furniture in within operator stores, Samsung operated stores. Tasks ranged from project management and liaising with external agencies to executing Digital POS requirements in line with the Mobile Division’s product launches and promotions
Skills
Being exposed to all aspects of the Retail GTM process, there wasn’t a piece of execution that I wasn’t involved in. This enabled me to progress a lot in terms of transferable skills such as networking, time management and project management, but also more specific Retail GTM skills such as creating retail POS, organising security solutions and logistics for product launches in store
Responsibilities
As much as I was a ‘placement student’, there was no point where I felt like I was treated like I was one, and also I was constantly executing impactful tasks that were critical to the success of product launches and promotions being executed in Retail
Support & Guidance
Loads, the team I worked in simply require you to be competent and will offer as much support as you require to be at the level to perform to their standards. The Placement Team in HR also provide some touchpoints to check in with you during the placement.
Culture
Intense, Dynamic, Rewarding. The Korean culture is absolutely a shock from normal university life, but actually it pushes you to get quicker and more efficient constantly. You are constantly improving.
Your Impressions
It was great, a crazy experience but I can carry so much of what i’ve learned here into future roles whether I return to Samsung or not
Yes
Be ready to ‘send it’. The more you put in, the better the experience is going to be. Also throw yourself in the deep end to connect with as many people as possible just to a) gain exposure and b) if you want to explore another team, this is the best way to go about doing so
