Overview
Responding to customers about issues with their orders, managing and maintaining ebay and amazon accounts, various projects to deliver, meeting with various teams, companies and agencies to accomplish tasks.
Skills
Learnt various skills around managing an ecommerce business, including order management and forecasting, marketing, promotion etc. Developed my ability to arrange and lead meetings and speak publicly, presenting my projects and work.
Responsibilities
Yes I was, I think this was one of the most pleasantly surprising things about the placement and a factor that I enjoyed the most. I was, at times, fully responsible for the amazon account and for various larger scale projects that I had developed the ideas for. This level of freedom gave me a great sense of accomplishment.
Support & Guidance
I had a great deal of support at the start of my placement and always had the option to reach out to the appropriate people for more support. I was fortunate enough to make some amazing friends with some of my colleagues, which meant support was always available. There could have been more guidance at times from higher up in the company, as there were difficult periods of uncertainty.
Culture
Fantastic. Easily my favourite company to have worked for so far - I value the relationships I have developed at Toyota very heavily and I'm extremely grateful to have met so many amazing people. Our wider team very much had a family feel and we had some great social activities throughout the year. It was clear to see how much value Toyota GB places in employee's happiness.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement year. The work was very challenging at times which meant I learnt a lot and gained a real appreciation for what I myself was doing, and what my colleagues were doing. The culture at Toyota was fantastic and well exceeded my expectations. I would definitely love to come back.
Yes
Be yourself! I think they are a very open and honest company with a lot to offer students and are keen to get more and more different opinions and ideas heard. It is an exciting company to work for with many changes ahead for the future.
