Overview
As an Eaton Intern on a day to day bases i support with the creation of monthly company newsletters, manage partner programme entry requests as well as support with leveraging these programs through incentives and competitions. I also work very closely with the sales teams supporting with joint partner marketing campaigns for key Etail, SMB and corporate reseller accounts whilst creating sales enablement marketing assets for them to.
Skills
Whilst being at Eaton I have learnt plenty of new skills as well as further developed those I already had. A good example of the many new ones i have learnt is Patience through the time I spent working with multiple teams on one single project, I leant you need to wait for things to be done where needed and understand to get something done right, it takes time.
Responsibilities
Yes, I was definitely given a lot of responsibility during my time with Eaton and I could tell this around the half way point of my placement year. I was being given projects that I wouldn't usually be as closely involved with such as reseller specific marketing activity. In some cases I was also left in charge of leading projects such as a customer event I organised back in March 2022.
Support & Guidance
At the start of the placement I was given a lot of support and guidance to help me get started in the role, this was really helpful with it being a new company with different methods and processes to doing things. But as my time went on this support became less and less, however it was always there to fall back on if I needed it, so it was a perfect balance throughout.
Culture
The company culture was fantastic, I felt included in all areas of the business even though my role was a temporary position and everyone was very friendly. I also feel the organisation is driven to create a divers and welcoming culture based on the work it is currently doing. This was further evidenced by the wide group of teams I worked in with people from lots of different countries, cultures and backgrounds.
Your Impressions
A great extent, I loved every minute of being at the company. I felt I was able to get involved in a wide array of activities with people from all around the world. I was also able to work on my personal development by getting experience of what other people do in the business as well incase I ever change the specific career area I want to work in the future.
Yes
Try everything - if something comes up that may be a little outside your role or comfort zone, just give it a go anyway. I say this because you never know what passion you might find for it or who you could meet when getting involved with it as well. This is also the best time to learn from your mistakes if you make any.
