Overview
The first week was an introduction to the business of law, while the rest of the placement takes place in person, as part of a team at CMS completing tasks like other trainees.
Skills
Strongly developed interpersonal, networking and presenting skills
Responsibilities
We were given much responsibility, including liaising with clients, completing case files and being left to complete independent research
Support & Guidance
Lots of support, with an emphasis on employee welfare, and the potential for feedback and productive discussion in the case of any areas of weakness.
Culture
Incredibly supportive, with talks and processes to do with diversity, inclusion, mental health and welfare focused on from the very start. Socials were organised to create a further sense of inclusion, altogether approached extremely well.
Your Impressions
I very much enjoyed it, it was excellent to get an insight into one of the top law firms in the world and to get to know so many similar minded people.
Yes
Go for it, be yourself, and be aware that this is a firm that puts its people first
