Overview
The role consists of being on placement with a wealth manager 3 days a week. This involves sitting in on client meetings, seeing how they write advice as well as them helping other members of the team (team meetings etc). For the other two days of the week there were group projects (one being a charity project and the other being a business project). In addition, there were skills sessions and time for independent learning using the intranet etc.
Skills
I think the main take aways surround how to deal with clients in a professional way, how to build networks and a technical understanding of how financial advice works.
Responsibilities
Not a great deal of responsibility. This is, however, completely understandable given that you need to have certain qualifications/experience to deal directly with clients (and provide financial advice).
Support & Guidance
There was a great deal of direct support from both my 'buddy' and my line manager. In addition, the program support staff and other line managers were also there to help out if we wanted their assistance.
Culture
Extremely welcoming and relaxed. I was surprised to see how much attention the interns got from senior management etc.
Your Impressions
Very much enjoying the placement thusfar.
Yes
Well worth applying to. Their values are as they indicate on website etc.
