Overview
The internship is divided into placement days, and intern activities and learning sessions. On placement days, we shadow bankers, assist to meetings, complete tasks... On the intern days, we have sessions to learn more about the business and healthy ways of working as well as social events. Additionally, we also have to work on our two projects, one centered on CSR and organizing a fundraiser, and another one centered on answering a key business question.
Skills
So far, I have developed networking skills and intrapersonal skills.
Responsibilities
So far not really as I have only been given small tasks
Support & Guidance
A lot, from a buddy to a line manager who both acted as mentors, to anybody else in the bank who I approached. Everyone was very welcoming and happy to help.
Culture
Very warm, open but still very serious. Extremely welcoming and enthusiastic, but honest and authentic as well.
Your Impressions
The internship is great as it is a very warm atmosphere with great organization and a lot of guidance. However, during the placement days, as most people work from home, our days can be quite empty which can be frustrating. Other than that, the atmosphere between interns, and within the organization make me feel welcome and comfortable.
Yes
Show that you're both serious about the work, but that you fit in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. the people is really important to Coutts, so they look for a good fit into the culture as much as good work in a prospective intern.
