Overview
Shadow an employee in a specific area, interact with different members of the team as they inform me about their business area. Given 2 projects: one on corporate social responsibility and another on our specific business area
Skills
Being able to effectively work and communicate in a group in order to achieve a shared goal. I also learnt a lot about my business area, how it acts in reality and have seen how it impacts the wider world
Responsibilities
As of right now (although it is still early days), not much on placement days. However, with the early careers team, we were given two projects to complete: the corporate social responsibility project where we are trying to fundraise for a charity and the business project where we try to create a solution to a business problem using our areas of work that we are currently in
Support & Guidance
Lots of support from my line manager and team. Also from the Early careers team, lots of support and help, but the communication with them was at times quite lengthy and confusing
Culture
company culture was extremely friendly, it also felt like there was a real atmosphere for change and a desire to be more inclusive and welcoming regardless of background!
Your Impressions
Thus far, I have enjoyed it quite a lot as there are a good blend of activities, including: placement days, interaction with other interns, opportunities to learn but also projects to encourage our interests.
Yes
Genuinely just be yourself and show interest as they don't expect you to know everything but to be open to learning. Also be very open about all of the activities as they are in your best interest and can be extremely beneficial.
