The scheme primarily consisted of days involving a) shadowing or b) workshops and discussion panels from the various practice groups. Because this scheme is relatively longer than other schemes for first-year students, you get to cover nearly every major practice group to get a holistic understanding of how law firms operate.

Applying for the scheme is frankly a great learning experience. Getting to do interviews and assessment centers will definitely help you in future applications. During the scheme itself, I would say that networking is probably the biggest skill you train. Many of Latham's employees are willing to speak to you if you take the initiative (I even got a coffee chat with a partner during my time there).

Information regarding the job scope of trainees and associates was well communicated, with graduate recruitment/trainees/associates telling us about the nature of their work.

I would say try to do several drafts for the online application questions, you don't want to make grammatical errors. For the latter stages, practice is everything, you can find sample questions all over the internet. Because it is a First-Year Scheme, they tended to ask more competency-based questions and less commercial awareness questions, so keep that in mind.
