Overview
The Summer Internship is split into 3 weeks. The first week was spent getting to know our fellow interns, attending talks from various senior partners and trainees, participating in workshops and networking throughout the firm. This week also allowed us to prepare for our presentation. The 2nd & 3rd weeks are spent in specific seats, my first was in Restructuring and second in Corporate Crime Investigations. The work was quite varied, obviously there was the normal research and proofing tasks, but we also drafted documents, attended client meetings/interviews and much more. In addition to the Presentation there was also an assessed writing exercise at the end of the 2nd week.
Skills
Yes, I have learnt or developed an array of skills. These vary from proofing, client interaction, networking skills, drafting, commercial awareness, presentation skills, teamwork, time management and much more.
Business Insight
We have had daily talks about different areas of the firms practice and also the firms values, the key takeaway that I will remember will be that everyone, all the way to the top was approachable and really wanted to help us gain the most from our experience.
Culture
The culture is great, everyone is so friendly and wants to work together and the atmosphere was so welcoming. No one was trying to create a negative atmosphere, even as a group of interns we were all pulling for each other.
Your Impressions
It was one of the most memorable experiences that I've had in a long time, I will not forget the friends that i have made through this Internship.
Yes
Remember to be yourself on your application, obviously always check your application for spelling errors and to make sure it reads well, but the early careers team are excellent here. They will sift through the generic applications swiftly, do your research of the firm.
