    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • The first week involves a number of introductory talks and skills workshops to get to know all of the interns at the UK, Dublin and Dubai offices. The following two weeks are spent in two week-long placements in teams within the firm. Within these weeks you get involved with real cases and work and are assigned a line manager who is a partner within DLA Piper.

    Business Insight

  • 3. What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
  • We received talks from a number of the International Group Heads and senior members of DLA Piper which gave us insight into different areas of the firm (HR, Pro bono etc) not just the legal practice groups. Due to the nature of an internship the discussion of potential roles is focused on becoming a trainee at the firm.

  • 8. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to DLA Piper
  • - Be yourself. They are not looking for the traditional, purely academic applicant. - Dress in formal business wear - Prepare questions you genuinely wish to know the answer to for a q+a - You do not need to study law to apply - You've got to push any nerves aside and just approach people for a chat within your team
