Overview
My role as an intern is to assist on any tasks at hand in my current sector. On a day-to-day basis, there is a mix of networking and interaction, to checking emails and staying put at my desk researching, to tapping into client calls and writing an attendance note, to going on work lunches and enjoying my time at the firm and in the city.
Skills
I honed my networking skills because interaction has been very limited in the last two years and this is positively bringing it back to how it used to be. I also improved my time management skills because everything has a set appointment in the work place and I must allocate ample time to be there on time. Moreover, in terms of legal skills, I got useful feedback to my attendance note drafts which is to improve my performance. A new skill I learned (and still learning) is how to legal research properly. I received feedback on my research and learned that I am supposed to take a holistic view when answering the questions of a client.
Responsibilities
The most I was responsible for at that stage was to show-up to appointments on time and to meet deadlines. In terms of task, it was merely two weeks. Therefore, the tasks I received did not hold that great of a deal of responsibility.
Support & Guidance
Over and above the expected amount. Everyone is very friendly, helpful, and welcoming.
Culture
Very friendly and fun. Everyone is positive and extremely brilliant. The partners and senior associates are also very humble which makes the connection between the people even stronger.
Your Impressions
By far, my best internship ever. The programme made the work and the travel very light and entertaining.
