Overview
In our allocated practice groups, our days would be very varied. Some days I would have a client meeting or practice group meeting, other days I would be given tasks to work on that met the objectives set by the Early Careers Team. We were given a lot of responsibilities and important tasks which contributed to assisting partners and other members of the team in their matters.
Skills
Yes definitely. In our first week we were given a workshop about presentations and the internship provided me with the opportunity to use these tips from the speaker. Moreover, I have developed my networking skills and ability to form and sustain meaningful connections with people over time.
Business Insight
It was very interesting. DLA Piper has a range of practice areas that are all very varied. One of the most interesting roles available was the potential involvement in a Pro-Bono practice area and the fantastic work that their team are involved in. We had a daily insight talk that was lead by the Global Head of the practice area and we were able to pose any questions that we had to them.
Culture
DLA Piper is a very happy place to be. All of the teams that I worked in had positive, enthusiastic and supportive individuals who made me feel very comfortable and involved in the work and their community from the first day.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed the vacation scheme very much. It has been a fantastic experience and I have learnt so much about the firm, the people and the work that DLA Piper do. DLA Piper is an extremely ethical business and I felt privileged to have the opportunity to spend three weeks in their offices.
