Overview
We had daily insight sessions with senior members of the firm. We were given tasks to do by the team we sat within. There were plenty of opportunities to interact with different members of the firm internally around the office. We had to work on a group presentation in the second week as well as a written assessment.
Skills
Throughout the internship I have developed a number of my skills including, time-management, organisation, presenting, team-work skills, drafting skills, research skills, and commercial awareness. Also, I have further developed my people skills and my ability to build a rapport with my peers and colleagues.
Business Insight
Throughout the internship we learnt a lot about the business from various different members of the firm from lots of different departments and specialisms. It was great to get an insight into how the firms works day to day as well as how they work across offices. Further, it was great to hear about all of the pro-bono work that the firm are involved in. It was also nice to hear how important trainees are.
Culture
The culture of the firm is very welcoming as everyone from every level of seniority are approachable and happy to chat with you. The open plan offices help to facilitate this open and positive atmosphere. There were a number of social events which really brought all of the interns together and we have made good friendships. Overall, the firm are very involved in pro-bono and CSR initiatives which is extremely positive.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed my time on the internship and I am sad that it is ending. Both teams I worked within were lovely and very welcoming. The work we were given was interesting and varied. The interns and the trainees have all got along very well and it has made the overall experience more enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this internship.
Yes
In applying make sure to show how your experiences can relate to a trainee role. Ensure that you have good team working skills so that you can shine in the group presentations on the assessment centre and during the internship. If you get onto the internship just make sure to be yourself and to talk to as many people as you can as everyone is more than willing to have a chat with you.
