Overview
The scheme was two weeks long, each week we sat in a different department of our choice. The scheme was made up of scheduled presentations and Q and A sessions from a range of people in the firm, time working in your chosen departments and social events. In the second week we were given a case study which we had to present in a team at the end of the week.
Skills
I had the opportunity to get assist with a range of trainee tasks, which developed my drafting, legal research and time management skills. Also developed teamwork and presentation skills doing the case study task.
Business Insight
Graduate recruitment put a lot of effort into arranging a wide range of presentations and opportunities for us to meet different people in the firm, including Q and As with the senior partner, associates in every practice area and trainees. We got a deeper understanding of the firm as a whole as well as the role of a trainee and the different practice areas the firm offers.
Culture
Everyone from the firm was so welcoming and willing to give up their time for a chat or to help you, no matter the seniority. The organised socials were also great for getting to know the other vac schemers aswell as employees of the firm. Some days the office was fairly quiet as it seemed a lot of people spent a few days a week working from home.
Your Impressions
It was very enjoyable and a great insight into the firm, whilst also intellectually stimulating.
