Overview
Joining a real audit team auditing a real company and completing tasks for that audit alongside a buddy or manager to help you. Involves mostly being in office but also working from home and potentially going to client site.
Skills
I've learnt excel well, I have learnt how to use specific PwC online systems. I have learnt financial terms since i do not study a finance degree. I have practised presentation skills and how to collate information and data effectively.
Responsibilities
Yes, the work I did was not irrelevant/ unimportant intern work. It was real work which linked to a real audit of a real company. This made the work much more rewarding.
Support & Guidance
Training was perhaps a bit fast paced but once I was on the job, there was always someone there to help me and walk me through the new systems. I also was assigned a coach and buddy to help with any other issues
Culture
Very impressive and positive. There were social events set up for us which were nice to meet people. We finished at midday every friday in line with pwc's summer working hours. The office was very relaxed and we could wear what we liked within reason.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed it very much. It was fun working with my team and meeting other interns. It was also rewarding working on real audits.
Yes
Do it, don't worry if you don't do a finance related degree
