Overview
You come in at 9am or 9:30am and sit in your practice area and complete the work you've been given. You also attend scheduled sessions as part of the Vac scheme and you'll probably meet your pro-bono group to talk about your research task a couple of days a week.
Skills
I learned how to draft due diligence, board minutes. You also develop your project management skills as you have to balance your tasks with interview prep, and your group task as well as making time for networking. what you learn work-wise depends on your practice area but I think generally speaking everyone learns how to draft some type of ancillary document using a precedent.
Business Insight
You learn about the vac scheme and the training contract as that's what relevant to you at this stage but what's quite good is you learn how those roles fit into the overall wider picture and growth strategy of the firm.
Culture
It was great. Really nice, friendly genuine people, even the partners who are all rooting for you to succeed and will sit down with you at any time to answer your questions or give you useful tips.
Your Impressions
I have enjoyed it a lot
Yes
Know the firm. Know the type of work that the firm does specifically in its practice areas. Be friendly and open in your interviews and you need to know how to work well with people both for the assessment centre and for when you actually get on the scheme.
