Overview
Shadowing a Senior Associate and learning how the audit process works. Tasks are explained and then completed together with supervision or independently with feedback/review after. All meetings and calls the Senior Associate attends are also attended by the intern with opportunity for questions/explanation after. Interns also complete a 3 week long group project with other interns nationally.
Skills
Yes there's the opportunity to develop skills such as time management, communication, problem solving and team work through the tasks you are assigned across the internship. I also learned a lot about accounting and audit both generally and specifically at PwC, this was particularly important to me as I come from a non-accounting background.
Business Insight
I feel like I understand the structure of PwC much better now and the potential career paths available as a graduate. The many areas of the business were explained so that I now feel I understand how the business functions as a whole
Culture
The atmosphere was incredible. The office staff were very welcoming, ensuring the interns had lockers and coffee mugs on the first day. Multiple social events were planned both during and after work with non-alcohol options provided too! I was invited to attend a community meeting to find out about volunteering and outreach. There were office campaigns such as free strawberries, office yoga and an office juice break which everyone enjoyed
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed the structure of the internship and the opportunity to complete some work alone and receive feedback on it. The team were great and the culture in the office was much better than I hoped for, I'd definitely want to return to the office and would feel comfortable reaching out to anybody in the office for advice or if I had any further questions about PwC
Yes
Give your all in the interview and assessment centre as its more of an opportunity to show your skills and personality rather than tick boxes. Reach out to anybody you know who works there with questions and I'm sure they'd be happy to answer them
