Overview
I sought out information from colleagues on the different business units and career paths possible within Deals and endeavoured to gather as much information on this as possible. I was given work to do to support my team - this included research, analysis and presenting information. I also took part in a Dragon's Den project to advise a social enterprise on their business strategy. I worked as part of a team to deliver this.
Skills
I have been able to develop my social networking skills and ability to communicate with colleagues across all levels. I have also been able to enhance my research collection skills.
Responsibilities
I was given responsibility to manage ad hoc tasks and get them done to a satifactory standard.
Support & Guidance
I received an immense amount of support from my colleagues in my immediate team. I had a buddy (senior associate) who I regularly caught up with and a Career Coach (manager) who I discussed my progress and performance with at regular intervals throughout the internship. Both were very supportive and I felt comfortable to approach them and the rest of my team if I needed any support or advice. Beyond this, I received guidance from those in the wider Deals team, who were happy to support.
Culture
Everyone I met and connected with was very friendly and approachable and were always happy to help with anything, regardless of the team they were in or their grade.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed my internship, and the opportunities made available through it. It was great to experience what working at the company is like, and also great to connect with the wider team and colleagues. The work was enjoyable and I also got to know the other interns very well. It was overall very immersive and enjoyable.
