Overview
First week was all training. The final 3 weeks consisted of work which was given by members of the team as well as some extra training. Shadowed calls and answering emails
Skills
Yes, went into it not knowing much about the actuary job however now know more about what they do and have gained a deeper understanding. Of course it will be hard to learn a lot due to the many exams needed to qualify and the short time being there but given those resources, I think I learned a lot
Responsibilities
Yes, just depended on the day. Some days people might have stuff you can help out with, others there might not be. Just depends on which projects they are working on considering we have no qualifications we of course can't do too much. Also had other projects like the Dragons den project to work on
Support & Guidance
A lot. Got a buddy and a career coach and everyone else was still really friendly and helpful. Whenever you got some work from someone they would really take time with you to help understand what was going on and always happy to answer as many questions along the way. Also, everyone was happy to give feedback once I requested it which is useful to look at
Culture
Great. Everyone so nice and friendly and felt very welcome right from the start
Your Impressions
So much. Didn't really know what to expect as didn't really know what the job was about but from the first day everyone was really friendly which really helped me enjoy it so much
Yes
Definitely go for it. It's a great experience and you will meet so many great people. During the interview process just be yourself and make sure you are applying for something which does sound interesting to you
