Overview
On an everyday basis, the role includes communicating with internal and external stakeholders. Arranging meeting, slide packs and agendas to communicate topics with partners. You are responsible for making sure partners have all tools needed to complete their task, manging their workstreams
Skills
I have developed many existing skills in excel significantly. I have learned how to use different spreadsheet tools such as filtering, count and table formatting. I have also developed my interpersonal skills, improving my confidence alongside bettering my communication and people skills.
Responsibilities
The responsibility given was dependent on the task. In some tasks I was given full ownership which was amazing, some tasks it took a few months to be given more responsibility
Support & Guidance
My team were amazing, I received so much support from there. I received support for my university work as well as internal tasks. If I was every stuck on anything, my team would always be on hand for me to ask a question.
Culture
There were not many company wide events that I was exposed to. But team away days would happen every few months, a chance for everyone to socialise and learn about what's going on in the department.
Your Impressions
The placement was a great way for me to grow as a person, I enjoyed learning about the rail industry and loved being out on site seeing all the work that happens behind the scenes that we don't know about
Yes
It's an amazing company with so much to learn! So many different avenues and departments to see and learn from. Don't be nervous for the interview, just be yourself. You don't need to know everything about the company because you will learn so much whilst being there!
