Overview
There were presentation sessions, project tasks and coffee chats with different people on the firm. Our principal gave us tasks to work on in relation to the department we sat in.
Skills
I developed more legal knowledge, commercial awareness and firm knowledge. I understand the firm much better now. I also learned about how to interact and adapt to the office environment in a City firm.
Business Insight
It felt great to have an in-depth look at the business of the firm, as not all information is publicly available. Talking to different people in the firm was helpful in understanding the nature of the work in different departments.
Culture
Everyone was nice and willing to talk to you about anything, whether it is about the firm or a casual chat. There was an open door policy firmwide, but each department had their own personality so some were louder or quieter than the others. The culture varied from department to department.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed it because I felt very welcomed in the scheme - everyone understood that I was less inexperienced and was always willing to help out. The presentation sessions we had from trainee recruitment was also very insightful. It was an invaluable learning experience.
Yes
Interviews are very technical, so do your best to prepare for that. The firm is very focused o collaboration so you should present yourself as someone who enjoys working in a team.
