Overview
The role involved attending practice area and general talks about the firm, as well as working on broader and department-specific tasks. We additionally had many opportunities to network with people at the Firm, during both scheduled events and more informal coffee chats that we were encouraged to reach out to people to arrange. There were also some socials. Overall each day was very varied, with different events to attend and tasks to complete.
Skills
I have learnt and developed a number of skills. My time management skills were definitely enhanced, and I also learned how to apply my written and verbal communication skills in a legal context and further develop these. Networking in a professional environment was a significant new skill that I learnt.
Business Insight
It was really exciting and very interesting, I particularly liked gaining the opportunity to experience day to day life in two very different departments. The talks we were given provided a broader insight into this across the Firm as well, including sessions on diversity and legal technology. I gained an in-depth and wide-ranging understanding of Linklaters and the roles available at the Firm.
Culture
The company culture and atmosphere at Linklaters was really lovely. Everyone I met made time to get to know me and talk to me about their work which I really appreciated.
