Overview
Provide general support for the Corporate Communications, Events and Sponsorship Manager. Supervision of my own time to ensure that daily, weekly and project deadlines are met. This involves dealing with the unexpected issues and showing initiative to get the job done. Core support function to the Sales and Product departments managing key elements of the operational side of the team
Skills
I feel like I have grew my skill set immensely within the last 15 months working for BMW. I have increased my technical skills getting a full awareness of the internal BMW systems and Microsoft applications. Also my interpersonal skills have improved, feeling more confident in different working environments.
Responsibilities
I was given a huge amount of responsibility during my placement year, this included documents and assets that are customer facing, informing customers of new products/ services. I was also involved in the pricing process of new vehicles which gave me an understanding of the Irish Tax system also.
Support & Guidance
My managers were very helpful in my time at BMW. I had a crossover of two managers while working here, both were extremely helpful if I had an issue or needed assistance. I also was in contact a lot with the employee who had previously worked in my role which made the handover period a lot easier for me.
Culture
The culture at BMW was a very positive one everyone was very welcoming from when i started. I was encouraged to catch up with all employees in BMW Ireland and I also got the chance to meet my UK colleagues when me and the 3 other interns flew to the UK.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed my roughly 14 months at BMW Ireland and would recommend this opportunity to anyone who is starting their placement year no matter what background. The time here flew past and I would love to come back at some stage later in my career.

Go for it. The team here are very helpful so you will never be left stranded or overwhelmed with workload.
