Overview
My role involves undertaking ad-hoc tasks for an audit team which varies from preparing lead sheets, to grid cost testing, documenting invoices and extended trial balance tie outs. I join my team's daily catch up call alongside meeting other team members throughout the day. Furthermore throughout my internship I undertake weekly certificate learning which prepares me for a future working at a well-regarded organisation such as EY.
Skills
I have learned how to operate EY Canvas and also the GL Analyser tool on excel. I have developed my writing skills by regularly forming documents such as audit reports or summarising board meeting minutes. I have also developed my excel skills.
Responsibilities
I was given a great deal of responsibility and also enough freedom to utilise that responsibility throughout my internship. I was left to arrange my own meetings outside of the daily catch up call and also look for audit work whilst balancing this alongside my certificate learning. I feel my time management and organisation skills benefitted from this experience.
Support & Guidance
I received all the support and guidance I could ask for throughout my internship. There is no was EY could have provided me with more help. This greatly benefitted my experience with the organisation.
Culture
There is a great atmosphere at EY. Everybody who works there is very welcoming and always happy to stop what they are doing for a chat or to help. I believe this improves the employee experience. I also like how the office put on social events allowing team members to get to know each other better and develop a trusting working relationship.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement with EY and would highly recommend to anyone looking for an audit internship to prioritise their application with EY. The welcoming and helpful members of staff allowed me to excel in a working environment.
Yes
Take time over your application and invest energy into the application process as it will massively benefit you if you can gain experience in such a welcoming office and prolific organisation. The experience, training and skills which EY provide interns with make it well worthwhile.
