Overview
Within this commercial and marketing role, the day-to-day tasks included conducing daily and weekly orderbooks, replying to any email enquiries, creating and sending quotations to customers, conducting monthly excel reports and updating both the BICON website and any product datasheets.
Skills
I have significantly developed my Microsoft excel skills during my time at Prysmian, as I was dealing with this software daily in my role. I have also developed a strong understanding of both SAP and InDesign, that i had no previous experience of before i started my placement. Additionally, as i was communicating regularly via email and phone calls with our customers, my communications skills have progressed significantly,
Responsibilities
I was given lots of responsibility during my placement, and I was trusted to complete these individually. Although the level of responsibility in this role is quite high, help is always available if you need it, and work can be shared across the team.
Support & Guidance
I was provided with plenty of support and guidance from not just the commercial team but all other teams within the office. I never felt that I couldn't ask a question or ask for help if needed.
Culture
There was always a friendly atmosphere within the Office, which made me look forward to coming into work. There are quizzes at lunch throughout the week, where the majority of the office gets involved.
Your Impressions
My placement year at Prysmian has flown by, and this is due to both the working environment within the office and the variety of tasks that I was completing. Every day was different to the other, and I felt that my work was actually valued by my team. I have been able to push myself in both my commercial and marketing role, and use software that i had no prior experience of. Throughout my placement, i couldn't have asked for a more supportive team.
