Overview
I am involved in demonstrating SAP products to customers, showing the different capabilities of S/4HANA ERP platform. My contribution to this includes theming & branding the system to match the marketing of the designated customer.
Skills
I have learned loads about SAP products, particularly S4HANA. I have also become a lot more confident, in terms of presenting, networking & my abilities to deliver high quality work. I’ve also developed my creativity, being given the opportunity and trust by my team to lead the theming and branding for UK presales
Responsibilities
My team gave me the responsibility to lead the theming and branding for our product with little interference
Support & Guidance
I received a lot of support, from various people. This includes meetings & support sessions with the placement team, my weekly 1:1 with my manager, the intern community & the diversity and inclusion groups
Culture
The company culture is getting better, and I don’t think it’s specific to SAP, but there are some culture issues across the technology industry and in the corporate world which have been highlighted. Being a woman in tech can be difficult, as it’s a male dominated industry, but having diversity and inclusion groups for support, such as the BWN, is a credit to SAP.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed it. It didn’t come without its challenges, but any issues I had were professionally and properly dealt with in an efficient manner. I learned a lot of new skills & met many people who have helped my development as a young professional
Yes
Go in with an open mind, network as much as you possibly can - if you expand your network you really get to see different areas of the business and see what you do & don’t like - which is a really important aspect of your placement. Explore options while you’re young, have limited responsibilities & a career ahead of you!
