Overview
My main role is to interpret existing and future regulations and assess these requirements against our current product portfolio. The work I do varies from day to day - from simple ad hoc requests to larger long term projects.
Skills
The main skill I have developed over my year at BAT is communication. As part of compliance we have to communicate legal requirements to our stakeholders. These stakeholders usually hold no legal background, therefore, learning how to explain complex concepts in simple terms has been hugely useful.
Responsibilities
I was given a huge amount of responsibility and made to feel like part of the team from day 1. The work I have undertaken as an intern at BAT has been highly valued and has helped to make a difference.
Support & Guidance
I was given lots of support during my placement. For all the work I was given my line manager was my point of contact and was always happy to help/guide me in the right direction. Further, everyone was given a mentor and BAT have a placement team for extra support.
Culture
The general atmosphere at BAT is friendly and happy - people are always willing to help and show a general interest in you.
Your Impressions
I had a really good year at BAT. As a result, I have developed massively both personally and professionally.
