Overview
I regularly attended meetings with my team to discuss our client's financial statements. Our conversation typically revolves around requesting for evidence of transactions, suitable accounting treatments and audit reviews. My daily task involves the use of excel to test the figures included in the client's transaction documents to ensure that they match with the bank's records, which is then reviewed by my seniors and managers in my team.
Skills
I have learnt to adapt by absorbing knowledge at a faster pace, as most of the work I do is new to me I will have to take in a lot of information quickly. I feel that I have also become more proficient in using excel
Responsibilities
Most of the tasks I was assigned were of low level, they do not require a high level of skill to perform. As an intern, my main responsibility was to learn about the industry itself and the way the work is done
Support & Guidance
I received a lot of support, the senior staff here are very helpful in answering all of my questions. They are also very active in checking up on me to see how I'm doing from time to time. We were assigned a counsellor and a buddy who are in charge of keeping tabs of our welfare during this internship
Culture
Everyone is kind and helpful in pointing directions. There is no strict lunchtime and there is no strict dress code at work. You may also work remotely for as long as you want, giving you more freedom in your work especially if you live far away from the office.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed it very much. I am honored to have received this opportunity and I bet a lot of other people have dreamed to work here. I would definitely recommend applying to work here, the atmosphere and the culture is just so pleasant as an intern. There were so many socials organised by the office so you will definitely have lots of chances to meet people and network
Yes
Keep an open mind, make sure to have lots of practice in applying for jobs before attempting the EY online assessments. When you get here, try to meet as many people as you can, and enjoy your time here
