Overview
Within the RADS Team I supported the team with analysis both from a bottom up and top down level. The team has regular calls to discuss potential and future investment opportunities that I sit in on, alongside a number of networking opportunities. On a day to day basis I am undertaking research of firms alongside larger projects such as ESG work and financial modelling.
Skills
A helpful new skill I learnt was how to use Excel to a much higher level than I had previously, with tasks such as financial modelling pushing my ability to a place I did not expect to reach in such a short amount of time. The ability to have small talk with high level/senior people is something I have also developed over the internship through a number of coffee catch ups.
Responsibilities
I was given responsibility from day one on both larger, long term projects alongside a number of small analysis tasks. The level of responsibility allowed me to add valuable contributions to the team which was extremely meaningful.
Support & Guidance
I received a large amount of support from everyone within my team, with a great culture of collaboration throughout the firm really being shown on a daily basis.
Culture
The culture is extremely supportive with every member of the team and firm willing to take time to help with any questions which from a new starters position is really comforting.
Your Impressions
The internship has been a great introduction to asset management and M&G as a firm, high level of exposure to the teams work alongside a large number of networking opportunities have allowed me to take full advantage of my short time. I hope to join on the graduate scheme and continue my time within both the industry and M&G.
