Overview
Working with state of the art instruments, in order to develop and validate analytical methods to ensure safety and effectiveness of the drug.
Skills
Further developed soft skills particularly communication Trained on instruments: LC,MS,NMR, GC, KF, IC
Responsibilities
Yes, you are expected to work autonomously and independlty in the lab post training giving me further confidence to problem solve independently and recognise where it is appropriate to escalate
Support & Guidance
A fair amount, there was a signifciant training period of around 4 weeks where there are specific sessions for each technique but developing competence in a technique could have been better supported
Culture
No blame culture however it is quite a stressful working enviroment due to very tight deadlines, but there is good team dynam ics
Your Impressions
It has been by far the most challeniging academic year, trying to balance a full time job whilst doing uni work, but it has led to many accomplishments, so I'd say bitter sweet.
Yes
Be prepared to work very hard if you are in your final year at uni on a year in industry. But as a company, the culture and values is great and take a very modern approach to solving problems, as well as inclusion and diversity and also teaching/mentoring
