Overview
We were allocated to a project team for 6 weeks and worked closely with them each day. They would allocate you tasks, involve you in their meetings and client meetings to give you an insight into the daily job. It involves developing material to be ready for the clients, prepping before workshops and doing data analysis.
Skills
I have definitely developed my communication, team-working skills and further improved my presenting skills by being given the opportunity to present to clients and teams of over 20 people. Further, I would say that my excel skills have developed both through the training provided but also through being set project work where it was needed to analyse data. Overall, the internship has developed my understanding of consulting and made me really excited for a future in consulting.
Responsibilities
I was given a lot of responsibility during my internship- I was able to develop client materials, facilitated meetings and I was able to give a presentation which I developed to a team of 20+. The skills I learned from these were so valuable both to develop me as a person and my professional skills, I was pleasantly surprised at the level of responsibility I and other interns were given throughout.
Support & Guidance
We were allocated to a project team and were given career coaches and buddies meaning that the guidance and support was brilliant. There was not a point where I felt unsupported and always had someone to contact and chat to asking questions or getting advice. Everyone was really welcoming and supportive to everyone on the programme.
Culture
The company culture and general atmosphere was really welcoming and supportive. We were provided with many opportunities to network across the firm and everyone was super engaging and happy to talk to us. Further, we were given training before starting our internship to ensure that we felt comfortable and equipped for starting, this made us all feel settled in. The opportunity to network and the support provided was immense and I cannot describe how beneficial this has been both developing our skills but also enabling us to explore the company to a great extent!
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed my internship as I had a really supportive and welcoming team. I was given responsibility and felt as though I was doing meaningful work to support both the team and the client. This has been greater than any other internship I have been on due to the responsibility given and the opportunities to network across the firm. It has enabled me to explore PwC as a whole, and improve many of my professional skills by being involved in a project team.
Yes
My top advice would be to prepare for the assessment days and interviews through learning about PwC and understanding the types of work they do. I would have loved to know not to stress and overthink it, I believe that being yourself in the interviews is most impactful as they want to see your personality as well as your professional skills.
