The Role
Brilliant experience. Met lots of other interns and staff at PwC were very welcoming. Really opened my eyes to the world of accountancy
From the first day, I felt part of a team. i was encouraged to ask questions at all times. I liked the working environment and banter between members of staff
I had a buddie and people manager to look after me, and always felt I could contact them with any queries.
Relatively busy on all days. Given work to complete and submit, which would then be checked. I did no photocopying or making the teas during my internship.
I was given the cash part of an audit to complete. I would then submit this, and it would then be checked by a more senior member of staff.
My team work, computer, communication skills all increased dramatically during my internship and are beneficial for my degree.
The Company
good atmosphere. People looking out for interns. good banter and conversation which interns could always join in.
Very well set up. Sent lots of info before internship started, so was aware of what was required of me. Given a timetable for day to day work.
First three days consisted of learning basic accounting theory. Also on jobs, we were given background information to the clients.
All the Scottish interns were offered a job at the end of the 6 week internship. Very appealing employment prospects. Having gone through a long recruitment process to get job, it is good I don't have to do that again.
The Culture
We were welcomed into the societies of PwC such as the sport clubs. Also we went out for drinks after work.
Relatively expensive as Edinburgh is a capital city.
Didn't experience much night life as too tired after work. Fellow interns said that it was good.
Lots of different sports clubs such as hockey, football, rugby, golf etc
