The Role
Great support from almost everyone in the company.
Receive feedback on all work, good and bad/constructive.
Line manager was very encouraging and easy to work for.
Sometimes ran out of things to do, but things were always found when I asked.
I have been in charge of very important parts of our team which had direct impacts on clients. IBM give placement students real jobs. Fact.
Communication and Time Management have been my most improved skills by far.
The Company
It was never dull, but I think "fun but focused" would be a better term than "fun never stopped".
My one constructive criticism of the scheme would be that the two managers (Line and Development) don't have enough contact with each other. I think that the Line Manager should have much more of a say in the end of year reviews and results as they are the ones who see you day-in-day-out.
The opportunities are there. Whether we decide to take them or not is entirely on us.
Flexi Time
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Working from home
I haven't got a job with them, but I am going to apply to the Graduate Scheme and keep my fingers crossed.
The Culture
Some of us play 5-a-side together. We go for drinks after work almost every week and have a big night out every couple of months.
London is expensive. Socialising had to be things which didn't cost money
Amazing! When I could afford it...
Not as much as I would have thought, but there is always the opportunity for one of the students to set something up and reach out to everyone else.
