Overview
Your day-to-day varies and depends on what projects you're assigned to. It's not the same everyday which makes the internship exciting and interesting! You never know what challenges you'd be taking each day.
Skills
I developed existing skills that started from university, e.g., Software skills, working in a team, communicating, etc. However, I definitely learnt so much more in my internship. University gives you the basic knowledge you'd need for your career, an internship gives you a huge insight of what it actually is like to work in your sector.
Responsibilities
Yes, I was given responsibility of designing models and creating drawings for projects.
Support & Guidance
Not only my line manager was helpful and supportive but so are everyone else in the team. It doesn't matter what position they have, they all are willing to help whenever I needed it.
Culture
The atmosphere is genuine. Everyone is welcoming and friendly and I never felt left out or of lower position than anyone. Everyone treated everyone the same.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed being in the team I was in, not just working with them but being with them. It's just such a positive experience and I would recommend Arcadis to anyone looking for a summer internship within Civil Engineering. The experience was beyond what I was expecting!
