Overview
I worked as a part of the highways team. Day to day I've predominately been working on updating AutoCAD documents, attending meetings and going on site. I was very luckily to be able to work on a project near London so I spent half the week living there (provided by company) and half the week working from home.
Skills
My AutoCAD skills have developed massively as well as applying knowledge learnt at University to real-life situations.
Responsibilities
I was given responsibility to change drawings e.g. not doing work that doesn't actually 'count' towards anything.
Support & Guidance
The whole team has extremely supportive. There are many people I can reach out to for help and everyone is always very kind and happy to assist. My line manager is particularly helpful and supportive.
Culture
The atmosphere is fantastic, it's clear that the staff are happy to work there.
Your Impressions
I have really enjoyed my summer internship and I would love to come back for my placement year. It has massively exceeded my expectations and given me a very good insight into that a career could look like for me.
