The Role
It was a struggle to begin with, but as I settled in, I began to enjoy it much more.
I got on well with all of my colleagues, office morale was high.
I was guided when necessary, but also left to make my own decisions at times. The balance was good.
I went through stages of little to do (especially towards the start of the placement), and times when I had loads to do. But generally I had enough.
I had responsibility for my own project, as well as shared responsibility in things like keeping the lab tidy, bins empty, glassware washed up, orders receipted/collected etc
The specific skills will be of use in my future career, whilst the general skills will be of use throughout many aspects of my life and career.
The Company
We all got on well, so morale was high.
I had a pretty clear idea of my project right from the start.
I had a lot of training on specific equipment and techniques, that will no doubt be of use in my future career.

I'm definitely interested in applying for a permanent job within Unilever, though it is not a guarantee that I will get it just because I have done a placement with them.
The Culture
All of the placement students got on well, though I worked mainly offsite in a smaller lab/office, so I did not see them quite as much as I would have like to.
Liverpool is a good value city to live and socialise in.
Liverpool has a great night life and social scene.
There were lots of possible clubs and societies to get involved with, both within and outside of work.
