Overview
As a management consultant intern, my role was to help the team prepare deliverables such as decks, prepare presentations or workshops for clients. Sometimes I would even have the opportunity to lead said client meetings. I would also often take part in financial modeling and of course take minutes during meetings.
Skills
I have been able to develop my soft skills more than anything else, networking skills, communication skills were both crucial during my internship and hence I had to work on them a lot. I also developed my powerpoint and excel skills a lot.
Responsibilities
The responsibility I was given varied a lot throughout the days, sometimes I would only be given excels to format, other times I would be responsible for the preparation of an entire deck for client meetings and then lead said meetings.
Support & Guidance
I received a lot of support during my internship, I was paired with a Career Coach and a Buddy who both dedicated a lot of time into making sure that I felt comfortable within the firm. The Student Recruitment would also always check in once in a while to make sure that the internship was going well.
Culture
Company culture was one of the highlights of my internship, the People were amazing, super friendly and always available for a quick chat. Moreover the firm is very flexible with its employees, summer working hours was a great surprise and showed just how much the firm valued the well-being of its employees. All in all the atmosphere was amazing which created a work friendly environment
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed the internship, it gave me an in depth insight into the world of consulting. I was able to develop my skills, grow my network and learn a lot which were three important factors for me personally.
