The Role
I loved working at TUI and the company is great. Although I wouldn't have chosen my job role I still enjoyed my time and learnt a lot.
I got on really well with all my colleagues and they really do try and include you. Occasionally they did make me feel my work wasn't a needed but everyone gets on very well...particularly as most people are very young.
I had regular one to one's with my manager to check my progress and check I was happy. As you will sit next to your manager as well the support is always there if you have any questions.
As with any business there were quiet periods such as march and busier periods such as January. On the whole though there was always something to do and even if quiet periods more analysis can be done.
TUI gives a lot of reponsibilty to placements. Being in charge of my own resort with only guidance from my manager meant that if something went wrong it was up to me to fix it.
I learnt so many transferable skills during my time on placement that I can use. Before I started I hated presenting but now feel comfortable doing it. A lot of the skills are not job specific and so can be used throughout the rest of my life.
The Company
TUI is a very fun place to work and things are always happening. From jubilee celebrations to easter and xmas the office is a busy place. People are always ready for a laugh if there is time as well and although there is a focus on work it is not serious all the time.
There was good communication from the placement team throughout and the monthly meetings were always in place to support you.
Although there was a number of courses not everyone had the time to go on them around everyday jobs. This is being addressed however and a mock graduate assessment centre is set up for people to practise.

I would love to work for TUI again although possibly not in the job role I am currently in. The company itself and the people are fantastic.
The Culture
Although there is a large number of placements not everyone got on. However as the company is made of mainly younger staff there is still a good social environment.
Luton is very cheap for rent and as it is a student city there are many cheap nights centred around students.
Luton is a student city and as such there is a lot of places to go at night. Being so close to London and St Albans is also good as they are such a short train ride away.
There are team nights out every month and a lot of opportunies to get involved in football teams etc outside of work.
