Overview
My role is to contribute to the development of the software system the team is working on. We are using a Kanban board, and I am free to pick any tasks I feel I can get done. I can and do always ask team mates for help to figure things out together, and we also have a daily catch-up meeting at 9am, where we summarise the work done in the days prior.
Skills
I have learned about a new software application framework (Nest.js) and I have extensively been using and learning how to use Typescript (programming language, sort of) and Vue (frontend javascript framework). I am learning how a professional team functions within a software development lifecycle, and am thoroughly enjoying the experience.
Responsibilities
I have been given quite a bit of responsibility during the internship, in terms of the importance of the tasks that I have been assigned. And I have personally chosen to tackle important and challenging tasks, because I find that to be an effective way to learn and become a better programmer.
Support & Guidance
I have received as much support and guidance as I needed. There has never been a situation where I was not offered help when I asked for it.
Culture
The company culture is very positive, and so is the atmosphere. Everyone is very friendly, inclusive and supportive.
Your Impressions
I have enjoyed it very much, and I am glad to have worked with this software team. I have and am still learning a lot from each one of them, and I am very thankful for their support.
Yes
I would say to try making sure you are well prepared for an interview. Otherwise, be ready to learn a lot.
