Overview
The purpose of this role is to chase outstanding credit hire costs back from the third-party insurers after an accident. Enterprise provide the non-fault driver with a credit hire vehicle, and then it is our job to recover the costs of that vehicle from the at-fault drivers insurance company. On a day-to-day basis this involves calling and emailing insurers chasing settlements, and speaking with customers to get them to assist us in settling their claim.
Skills
1) Communication (verbal/written) - used daily, speaking on the phone, emailing, team meetings. 2) Confidence - can be daunting handling real life claims and negotiating settlements over the phone, but confidence is majorly developed 3) Time/Workload Management - dealing with a full workload so it is important to be able to balance and prioritise tasks Notable Mentions: - Teamwork - Professionalism - Decision-Making / Problem-Solving - Attention to detail - Responsibility
Responsibilities
A lot of responsibility is given pretty early on in the placement. We deal with real life claims and begin working them by the end of the first week / in the second week. We are trusted to be able to manage our workloads independently and ensure that we are getting through and dealing with our claims effectively and efficiently.
Support & Guidance
There was a week of training at the beginning, and then there was constant drop-in sessions on Microsoft Teams where we could ask for help on claims we were struggling with. Lead Reps and Supervisors are also on hand to provide support when needed.
Culture
Being in the office 5 days a week meant that there was opportunities to meet people and make friends, and the atmosphere in the office was good. The company culture was one where they value hard work and customer service. There is lots of opportunities for charity days as well. There is often team socials too, however the general expectations are that you are working hard and constantly available to answer calls.
Your Impressions
I have enjoyed my year at Enterprise and the skills I have learnt and connections that I have made will benefit me massively in future. At points the job can be quite repetitive; being on the phones and arguing the same points over and over, however I wouldn't say this made the year unenjoyable so overall I have enjoyed my time here.
Yes
I would say to make sure you ask questions and ensure that the role you are applying to is the role you want. There are some roles where you are on the phones a lot more than others so if that is not something you are comfortable with you probably won't enjoy it as much so just make sure you have a full understanding of what you are applying for.
