Overview
Performed tasks as part of the team just like a new full time joiner would, received training in the different functions the team performed. Met with a range of people in different departments to gain a broader understanding of the company and culture.
Skills
In the first week of off-desk training buffed up my excel skills significantly while also learning key financial terms and knowledge and context of the financial markets. Developed networking skills from the chats with people in the bank.
Responsibilities
I was given full access to the systems and software as the company has a rigorous double checking system so any mistakes I made would be reviewed by multiple people.
Support & Guidance
Everyone on my team was incredibly helpful and supportive and as well anyone I spoke to outside my team was always happy to give advice or help.
Culture
The culture is very open and everyone was very friendly and happy to talk. There is no culture of rigidness or formality and its a relatively flat structure for a bank, directors were always happy to meet for chats.
Your Impressions
It was a really enjoyable experience. I really developed my personal and professional skills.
Yes
Make sure you have a solid knowledge of basic financial concepts and be yourself, its the best way to stand out in the interview.
