    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • My role consists of client meetings, writing code in different languages (e.g. NodeJS, Python, ReactJS and Shell scripting), DevOps, and other general tasks (e.g. maintaining my department's internal website). No two days are the same, and it's genuinely really interesting!

    Skills

  • Definitely - I have learnt so much throughout my year! E.g. Red Hat OpenShift certification training, internal badges/courses, DevOps, infrastructure-as-code (Terraform), shell scripting in BASH, Python, ReactJS and NodeJS (front end web development). I've also had many opportunities to develop soft skills, such as communication skills, presentation skills, and teamwork skills.

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to IBM
  • Go for it - it's a genuinely amazing process! The interviewers are lovely - don't worry about the assessment centre and interview, as they'll do their best to make you feel welcomed and comfortable. Assessment centre advice: they're looking to see how you work with others, as there's a great culture of feedback, and they're looking for all sorts of different people - be yourself!
