Overview
Working closely with suppliers and the client to ensure the project I am working on is being completed to an excellent standard. Managing the project daily and keeping track of every detail within the project, so it runs smoothly. Feeding back and updating clients weekly to ensure they are happy with the progress.
Skills
Yes,I have learnt and developed many skills such as; management skills, communication skills (written and verbal), IT skills, increased confidence and assertiveness.
Responsibilities
Yes, I was given a lot of responsibility alongside one of my other colleagues as we ran the rollout together. However when annual leave commitments came up it was down to just one of us. This allowed me to take on a much larger responsibility, develop my skills faster and have more involvement and build stronger relationships with clients and suppliers. I have been involved in the project every day and in the day to day tasks from the start.
Support & Guidance
A lot of support and guidance! My line manager and other colleagues in the office have all been extremely helpful! I asked a lot of questions at first which did help me understand things a lot more and this also helped them to give me the best advice. There is also a mentor programme for anyone in the business. I recommend using this a lot as it has been extremely helpful and made me aware to wider opportunities in the business and how to learn from other peoples mistakes.
Culture
Very sociable with many different events and opportunities happening all throughout the year. Social events such as summer BBQ's, Christmas parties, drinks after work, sporting events and every employee has a charity / volunteering day once a year. Also the opportunity to travel and meet up with other offices such as London and Edinburgh, and have meetings and social events.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement year at Arcadis. Working at Arcadis exceeded my expectations massively. They definitely put their employees first and have their best interests at heart, there is so much support and opportunities available to everyone. There is room to grow and develop within the company, and everyone is so welcoming and kind. I would 100% recommend working for this company to anyone.

Send a CV and Cover letter about why you want the job and how you will be a good fit. For the assessment center get involved and don't hold back, share all information / ideas, but also encourage others to give their ideas and involve everyone. Let others have a chance to contribute, and encourage them if they are quiet. For the interview process research the company thoroughly to prepare. Be able to show that you have a growth mindset and able to solve problems proactively and appropriately during an interview. Also think of real life scenarios where you have succeeded or made a mistake but how you learnt and came back from this. Have some questions or queries to ask at the end of the interview, maybe things like what opportunities there are to grow within your job role you are applying to. To prepare for your first day get stuck into everything and be confident, talk to everyone and ask lots of questions if you are unsure about anything.
