Overview
Shadowing the account managers and their support teams as they complete their day-to-day job responsibilities. Attending client meetings (infrequently). Completing some admin work for the AMS team. Writing a management report for the branch (part of the internship program itself). Undertaking a project to take work off the account manager's plates.
Skills
Professionalism, communication, responsibility, initiative.
Responsibilities
Yes, definitely. The team encouraged me to do as much work myself as I could, and were very grateful for any task I took off their plate. This was restricted by lack of some systems access.
Support & Guidance
Lots of support and guidance. I had 2 dedicated mentors, 1 in the branch and 1 at another branch. I was put into a group to create a presentation, which then gave me some other interns to contact. Everyone else was very kind and friendly too.
Culture
The culture was great, everyone the bank hires seems to be lovely! There was a relaxed atmosphere, no unrealistic targets to stress people out.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed it, and would be tempted to return for part-time holiday work. I am seriously considering a career with the bank long-term in the future.
Yes
Focus on being genuinely yourself and an easy person to get on with. You'll pick up skills on the job.
