Overview
I am responsible for a project allocated to me by the team I was placed in within the supply chain. I am also given the opportunity to network within the company, everyone is happy to make time to talk to interns.
Skills
I've learned an developed technical skills like the use of SQL, VBA and tableau. As well as this we took part in workshops to develop skills such as presenting and communication. Tesco has a good learning platform that allows you to find courses that may help you develop.
Responsibilities
Tesco give your real projects that are implemented in the company and that will effect the business and its staff. You have lots of support around to help you with this project.
Support & Guidance
You are allocated a buddy at the start of the internship that can hep you with lots of questions mostly around getting comfortable working within the company. As well as this you have support for HR staff that organise the internship and you have support from your line manager and program managers within your specific function and team.
Culture
You can email staff of the highest levels within the company and they respond and are usually happy to give half an hour to talk to you and answer any questions. The company is a very welcoming place with staff networks that you can use to meet people within the company.
Your Impressions
The placement was great fun. It gives a good insight into work as a graduate at Tesco. At times it feels like you have alot of work and may have learn to prioritize. Other times it may feel like there is less to do but this means you can spend time exploring other areas of the company.
Yes
If you like being in an inclusive friendly working atmosphere Tesco is a great place to work. It also allows you to be ambitious due to its size.
