Overview
I work as a paralegal. This involves, among other things, reviewing and amending contracts, advising various individuals from the business, conducting legal research, drafting NDAs, and looking at wayleaves. My day-to-day tasks vary depending on which member from the legal team I'm working with.
Skills
I have learned the skills required to be a lawyer and had the opportunity to implement theory that I learned in university into practice. The work I engaged in also helped highlight my strengths and identify my weaknesses.
Responsibilities
On my first day, I was given a contract to review and send back to a colleague. I was surprised that my first day involved actual work. I enjoyed CityFibre's approach of 'learning by doing'. I am always encouraged to attempt to do something on my own before the task is explained to me in order to see what I am able to do on my own.
Support & Guidance
I felt comfortable asking questions when I needed guidance and everyone was always happy to help. I also benefitted from receiving consistent feedback - even when it came to simple tasks.
Culture
Everyone was very friendly and engaging, including the management.
Your Impressions
It was very beneficial and I thoroughly enjoyed working at CityFibre.
Yes
Do not be intimidated if you don't know much about the Telecom industry. Try to be engaging and treat the interview more like a conversation than an interrogation. They are looking for people that will fit within their wider culture - which is very friendly.
