Overview
My role as a junior member of the client team is mostly monitoring and reporting of the schemes as well as particular jobs as and when they come. Excel is a must. Client work is limited until you become more senior but you get work on preparing for the meetings.
Skills
It has given me a much deeper understanding of investment terms and asset classes, as well as the pension schemes and investment strategy for them. It gives a lot of transferable skills I imagine. You build familiarity with Excel and powerpoint and how to use them in a corporate environment.
Responsibilities
Yes, most tasks were delegated to me and I was a self-sufficient member of my teams. I did very similar work to other junior members of the client teams.
Support & Guidance
One of the biggest benefits of Aon is how open and welcoming people are. Even senior consultants are often happy to have a quick chat with you and asking questions and looking for advice is specifically recommended and as such is very good.
Culture
Very friendly, people genuinely like working with each other
Your Impressions
It was fun, yet challenging enough and was genuinely rewarding
Yes
Be yourself and go for it - my interviews were friendly and although it was a long process it is worth persevering
